Prolouge: So It Begins...

"Perhaps perfection." Kathleen said. She was making an effort at humor...and not doing very well.

Xanta quickly read throught all the information she could find about human ESP, a process which took about 10 minutes. When she finished reading, she looked out her office window and saw that Lilly was still in sickbay, talking with Morgan. I think I'll go check on those orderlies, she thought, I want to make sure that they're doing things properly. After walking out of her office, Xanta walked over to where the three orderlies were. They were, fortunately, doing things right, even if they were slightly distracted by their conversation. Smiling slightly, Xanta went back to her office. She glanced back at Lilly and Morgan, and her smile grew a little.

Eliza Jane paused just for a moment to looked at Kathleen. The look on her face gave away that she was clearly puzzled. Eliza Jane slightly raised an eyebrow. "What?" She asked sort of slowly.

"Alright." Lilly agreed. She was not going to push Morgan to be her teacher or tell him when.That would just be mean,rude,and impolite. In her opinion he needed a little time to get adjusted.

Kathleen looked rather embarrassed. "It was...an attempt at humor. You said I should do such things."

"Well..." Eliza Jane let out a little breath. "We'll work on it. Keep trying." Eliza Jane told Kathleen with a smile as she now went back to work.

Kathleen took a deep breath, glanced about, then moved her gaze down to the console.

Sam glanced over at the Captain, then spoke. "Sorry I was late Captain. I got um...held up."

Owen nodded to a passing Ensign as he heard his Commander's words. Turning his head towards his first officer he gave a small smile "That's quite alright Commander however constant lates will not be alright"

Morgan turned once more towards the console and continued with his work.

Sergei mocked shock at Kathleen
"Well how about that. Barely know the girl for a day and already we've managed to get her to tell a joke AND show an emotion. You know, Lt., we ought to talk to her more often. Probably have her dancing around by lunch tomorrow" he said cheerily and airily as though teaching former drones to become their original species again was the most natural thing in the world.

"I will NOT dance Ensign." Kathleen informed him icily.

Sam nodded. "I'll make sure to be more punctual from now on sir."

Eliza Jane began to laugh as she had heard Sergi's comment and Kathleen's response. "Kath's right." Eliza Jane said as she tried to keep her laugher inside. "She will not dance because she does not have any dancing shoes." Eliza Jane looked at Kathleen. "Don't worry. It's just a bit of humor,besides I don't think you could dance even if you wanted to." Eliza Jane kept a smile from forming.She wanted to see if Kathleen was going to prove she could or come back with an insulting comment,or perhaps another joke.

"I can dance. The Borg did have such information in the collective. However, it is an irrelevant and inefficient activity that does not further the goals of the collective or humanity." Kathleen said. She thought a moment, then continued. "However, if you require me to dance, I was given more thorough lessons by Dr. Forth."

"Indeed and...i suppose i'm partly to blame Commander. I was the one who took you away from your assighment at such short notice of course i was told at short notice too that my first officer was going somewhere else."

Owen looked around quickly and then leaned close to his Commander "Between you and me Commander...i think he may be having his pon farr" He whispered quietly.

Sam smothered a laugh. "I'm sure that explains it." he whispered back.

"Alright..." Eliza Jane said holding a laugh. "When our shifts are over,after our physicals perhaps you would care to show us some of your moves,in the holodeck?"

Kathleen looked rather confused. "Moves?"
